A Little Grace Today
April 16th, 2012 § 1 Comment
One of my favorite things to do when I’m lacking determination to stick with what I love, I watch “The September Issue.”
Again.
Most of you have probably seen it, and if not you need to stop what you’re doing right now and watch it.
I thought I would post my favorite 2 minutes in the film. In it, Grace Coddington summarizes being passionate about her work, taking notice of every detail she sees, and not “falling asleep.”
Love it. She’s my hero.
Have a beautiful Monday.
For The Love Of Sydney!

What would you do with 20 foot ceilings and an endless amount of light streaming in each room?
Turn them into a glamorous oasis, of course.
This month featured in the Belle Magazine Australia “2012 Interior Design Awards” edition (more to come on that,) designer Brendan Wong (this man truly is brilliant have fun on his site!) and the apartment owner Ben David of Kas, present a Sydney masterpiece.
And it is a masterpiece.
Here are a few Morsels to whet your appetite, but you’re missing out if you don’t check out the entire story:
Are you drooling yet?
Things that have inspired me here:
A perfect example of how to display framed art over a console…with the tasteful sconces and vases.
A gravitation toward color and pattern. (I tend to be very neutral with splashes of color here and there. AKA: afraid to take risks.)
I went through a stage where every lamp shade in my house was black. Slowly, the black became replaced with white. Everywhere. Now, I’m convinced I’m going back to black. There is something so timeless about black lampshades.
The emerald green tufted sofa by George Smith and floral rug by The Rug Company, will be on my mind for days to come.
“Emerald tufted sofa.
Floral rug.
Emerald tufted sofa.
Floral rug.
Emerald tufted…”
Now that I’ve told you what I’m thinking, tell me what you think!

Peter Mikic Home In Notting Hill
March 31st, 2012 § 1 Comment
Reading that most pieces, including every fireplace in this home were designed by Peter Mikic and custom-made, only makes this story so much more irresistible. Who wouldn’t love to do that? I think we spend so much time admiring the work of others, and trying to achieve a specific look that we forget about our own ability to create. Just a thought for you this Saturday morning…
Gold finishes and hints have really been growing on me lately, and this room confirms it. I mean, just look at the coffee table.
Really, what’s not to love about this room? The geometric shapes splash some cold water on the history and traditional elements. Love it.
“I wanted the house to look as though Claridge’s hotel had been transported to 1950s Milan,”
-Peter Mikic
The natural light really shows off the texture and color in this beautiful bedroom. Aren’t you sort of dying to know what it overlooks?
What do you think guys? Is your head swimming with ideas? Mine is.

Seeing Stars

“Stars on sale.” Try saying that fast, 5 times. Did it work?
Hey everyone! We’re almost done with the week! I really can’t believe it is Friday already.
I wanted to let you know that these cute Galvanized Stars have gone on major sale. They have been hiding in my inventory at The Morsel Designs, and I’d altogether forgotten about them. I plan to take a few and place them about the house: in my outdoor planters, hanging from my porch awning, etc. These are not Christmas-exclusive, although they do make a funky holiday decorating item. If you would like to see the look in action, I happened to see something very like it over at (one of my favorite blogs) House of Turquoise last week. It’s not exactly the same, but close. I knew there was a reason I loved these stars…
They are adorable, and they’re 25% off! View more details and shop here!
Yes, Please.

Just scrolling through these designers’ online portfolios has been a joy, so please click on the links and see for yourself. Especially if you have 150 hours. They are that pretty.
In no particular order….I’m reasonably certain that the bedroom designed by Paige Schnell, with the sultry chandelier and sophisticated bedframe, is going in my Top 5 favorites of all time. Hands down.
I love this sleepy green room designed by David Herchik, with natural accents and classic, towering drapes . I wouldn’t have chosen the leaf rug on my own, but it really works in this space. Don’t you think? How about the aqua room in the same home with the mirrored bed-side table. Very intentional grouping of color and texture.
And lastly, a round of applause please for the white, white, white living space Susan Massey. You have a coffee table that looks luxurious, yet you can still put your coffee on it, the beautiful choices of seating, and to top it off, it is donned with a blue chandelier. Again, this is going to the top of my list for inspiration in my new house.
What do you think?

I was wandering through Etsy and I just had to briefly share a few things I drooled over.
This Absolut lamp is absolutely too fun, from Liquid Lightning….

These eco-friendly cutting boards by Appalachian Joinery are just edgy and cool. I want one!

Love this EKRA jellyfish rug, but check out the rest of the store. Great for a kids’ space!

I really love this vintage jar light by Lamp Goods. I’ll take 10, please.

The M of the M…or M of the Q (quarter, instead of month)
June 16th, 2011 § 1 Comment
It’s been awhile!
This has been a really busy season around here, but as promised I wanted to share our first Morsel of the Month, Sarah Wymer. She’s really special in that she will have been on the site for almost an entire fiscal quarter (she’s just special anyway)….but who’s counting right? In other news, the before and after projects are coming along, perhaps not so quickly…but again. Who’s counting?
Thanks to my buds over at Paint Along, I’ve finally left the Dark Ages behind and joined Facebook and Twitter all in the same day. Whah! And yes, I’m embarrassed to say it was by force. Ever put something off until you just can’t anymore? Let me know if you like it or hate it. I count on you, faithful readers…
Without further adieu, feast your eyes on these! You can read more about Sarah on the official M of the M page.
The last piece is a self-portrait. What a beautiful creature this artist is. This is just a sampling…but I can assure you, the thrill doesn’t wear off! What’d’ya think???
Who’s next? Do YOU know an undiscovered artist that the world just needs to know about? Get in touch with us and let us know about them!
